The Grounds
Right on one of Prince Edward County’s main tour routes, County Road 19, the grounds of DeVen’s Art Studio stretch out over 10 acres of farmland with a meandering lilac path leading to a tranquil pond and workshop.
What used to be an old woodshed attached to the main house, it is now a gallery and studio displaying the works of Florence van de Ven and Melissa Cross.
"Bert Houses"
Bert van de Ven, a self-taught carpenter and husband to Florence van de Ven, began making bird houses to bring nature closer to the house.
Many a passer-by would stop to admire the old barn with its chickens, peacocks and the beautiful gardens. Bert would welcome every visitor, family or stranger, to take "the Tour."
Bert's bird houses and garden planters are on display throughout the property. Wander, relax and come feel the country in the County during your visit.
